GOALS / EXPECTATIONS:
Increasing the level of diversity education and awareness and thereby enriching the educational experience and promoting a healthier student body.
In the “Passport To …” Program, students from another country are featured at a free luncheon for all students. The international students make a presentation about their country and culture followed by questions from the student-audience.

As measured by anecdotal stories related by the international students involved and the students, faculty and staff who attended the presentations, the level of diversity education and awareness was increased.
ACHIEVED OUTCOMES:
The level of diversity education and awareness was increased.
IMPACTS:
An increased level of diversity education and awareness has enriched the students’ educational experience and promoted a healthier student body.
- Students are often very surprised and pleased to learn about the life and culture of the few international students we have at our institution.
- Students probably come to the event initially because of the free lunch and the fact that some faculty offer extra credit points for attending.
- It is important to get faculty buy-in as part of the promotional efforts for the event.
RESOURCES AND COSTS NEEDED:
Faculty/Staff who are interested in and willing to do the work of organizing and marketing the event (including the luncheon) and coordinating and helping to prepare the international students for their presentation.
COSTS
The cost of the luncheon (free to students) is the largest expense item.
This program is successful enough that we plan to do it more than once per semester.
