SUMMARY:

This Online Student Welcome kit addresses three issues: 1) welcome new online students into their programs; 2) provide initial information about advising and academic deadlines; and 3) create some affinity with the University. The kit is a yard flag, which functions as the envelop. Inside the "envelope" are several things: a) welcome letter from me (the dean); b) magnet with student deadlines such as adds and drops; c) a card with the contact information for the online advisors; d) instructions on how to link to the college's social media including Facebook; e) University of Idaho-branded keyboard stickers; and f) a small garden flag. Each piece is designed to achieve the goals of this project. We just started sending these welcome kits out this fall and do not yet have assessment data.
