PURPOSE

ISSUE:

Opportunity for residential faculty to contribute to the scholarship in their field


GOALS / EXPECTATIONS:
  • To create a community of scholars that will engage in conversations about the scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Opportunity to investigate significant issues about teaching and learning in their fields.

DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY:

The Maricopa Institute for Learning (MIL) is a fellowship for residential faculty in any discipline who are interested in examining significant issues in their teaching fields and contributing to the scholarship of teaching and learning through classroom research projects. Its secondary purpose is to create a community of scholars that will engage in conversations about the scholarship of teaching and learning.

MAJOR CHARACTERISTICS:

Learning opportunities; scholarship; resources to conduct their research and provides them varied opportunities to engage in scholarly thought, reflection, and dialogue about effective teaching and learning practices.


FEATURES:

The tool allows faculty to apply for research funds.


PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

Number of faculty engaged in scholarship activities


ACHIEVED OUTCOMES:

Increase in number of trained residential faculty


IMPACTS:

Improved teaching and learning; professional development for faculty
